Illusions Poem by David Blake

Illusions

Lingering regrets, memories on the
verge of obscurity, only to be brought
back to light in the presence of you
standing there. Fear, and shame
mixed with all the emotions of the
years flooding my being as our eyes
meet. Uncertain, I take no comfort in
my plight, trying in vain to hold on to
something, anything of what was only a
few moments ago. Freedom, I long to
escape, yet I know it is now too late.
You approach slowly pretending not to
see the suffering you are causing me.
Your smile so sure, so confident, it is
only then that I am aware that you have
nothing left for me as you walk by and
never even turn and look back at me.

Your poem captures lingering memories, when the past comes alive in a single snapshot of hurt, so very well David.

This is something like my 'die another death' which runs at a slow pace. This is differently Very good. Tightly knit wording and fast moving exprssion...........enjoyed reading it.
