I'm Asking Where My Breakfast Is Poem by Mark Heathcote

I'm Asking Where My Breakfast Is

Light-footed,
I have walked around the churchyard.
And I observed the blackbirds.
And the robin and the wren
But only one observed me back.
As if I were his kith and kin.
I'm asking where my breakfast is.
Dinner and supper are.
Be away from me yourself if you can't provide.
There's no room at my table if you're idle.
And want to roll over and die.
There are worms in their urns.
More productive than you.
Be away with yourself.
I have no time for lazy men.
Or light-footed thieves, amen.
