I always felt so lonely
when I thought about the past
I always felt so lost inside
I never thought I ever smiled,
I didn't know I learned to dream
when I was just a child.
Oh, but I had a family
and a big fluffy cat
that taught me how to laugh
and though times change,
I'll always remember that.
I'm not a broken little girl
and looking back on all these times
I realize I learned to sing
before I ever spread my wings
and somewhere deep inside,
I'm not a broken little girl.
Well, we had a red brick house
and we had a barn and a field of hay
we had so many animals
I even had a goat,
yeah, we had so many beautiful things.
I'm not a broken little girl
and looking back on my life
I can see I used to be
so, so happy
and I smiled before I cried.
But, I'm not a broken little girl
sometimes I felt all alone,
but there must've been some good times too,
‘cause I still wanna go back to you,
I still feel like I had a home.
Well, I loved the mulberry trees
and I loved when we moved from place to place
I loved the lullaby trains
and that smiling girl is really me.
And she's not a broken little girl
her heart is young, but her heart is whole
you can see by the love in her eyes,
you can see by the way that she smiles,
she's not a broken little girl.
