Images Of Hunger Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Images Of Hunger

Rating: 4.0

A child weeps on
the bamboo floor
while mother
looks at the empty pot.

Father comes home
from the storm
stooping
like his lonely boat.

Thanks, Thomas. The images go back to the fishermen in the village. Mother and child are waiting for a father to come home, wantng to find if he is able to make a catch which they can sell for a living. But the father comes home without any catch. Maybe this kind of image is not found in your society but it is real in many other societies in the globe.
