In A Man's World. Poem by G. Buddy Bercu

In A Man's World.

I'm a grown man
from long ago.
Can't take the man heart outta me
don't you know.
Momma said daddy
can't you see
am I good enough for you
Being good enough to be
playin' my blues, payin' my dues,
daddy, wish you could be here
now to see
me livin and dyin free
As a grown man
from long ago
Can't take the man heart
out of a grown man
don't you know
momma said
daddy, you're the best she ever had
the fact you're not here no more daddy
makes me feel sad.
Daddy, you'd be so proud
to see me
crushin' it with the dinner crowd.
Rockin' from early spring
through the heat of summer.
If you could be here now, daddy
you'd see I'm a real hummer.
If you'd come back once papa
I'd show you how I roll.
as a grown man
daddy
from long ago.
