In A Moment Poem by Dakota Ellerton

In A Moment

I am a sinner.
Ripping through souls,
I spread the poisonous hate.
A virus, a plague,
anyone who gets too close,
it's inevitable.
Leave now,
before it's too late.
I can not bare to take another,
to break another.
The lies take hold,
another face, a mask,
uncovers.
There is no protection.
I've fallen to my knees,
this is it,
the moment I've wanted for so long.
Will I be able? ,
will I let go?
I have to, for everyone,
I must be strong.
It will only last a moment..
Yes, only a moment.
To a week, a month, another year,
I'd take it anyday.
Here goes,
one more time,
just one.
I will never except destiny,
I control my own fate.
My life is not in a plan,
I decide whether I live,
until my body is old and frail.
Until my organs can no longer function,
I decide.
In this moment,
I am given a last breath.
What will I say?

Will I expell the deepest parts of my soul?
Will I say everything I never did?
Or will I not say a word.
Will I take one last look at my life,
and decide right then and there?
I'm not going to live,
because you selfishly want me to.
I will think of every moment I've been hurt,
every lie I've heard,
every truth I've swallowed.
The scars on my body will pulse,
I will break to tears.
This is it,
close your eyes,
it'll only last a moment..
