In Between Black And White Poem by Jake Andrews

In Between Black And White

Light only shines so that I may see
Darkness envelops I cannot flee
Withered away like a shadow in the sun
My life has been deprived of all of its fun
A sudden realization the lights go out
I’ve lost the meaning of what life’s about
But what I’ve come to realize I do not fear the dark
When the lights go on my life is but a spark
In darkness there is no judgment cast
No one to see me no one knows my past
The end of the world could come and go
It makes no difference to me, I wouldn’t know
But in darkness there is only black
The red of love, that I lack
But in between black and white
A dangerous game, hiding from light
I wish I could be clear and true
Nothing to hide, you can see right through
But the full spectrum of life I am destined to play
Because you change my mind, I put the razor down today
