In Essence Poem by Mark Heathcote

In Essence

In essence, we are stardust.
We are seeds scattered on the prairie.
In spirit, we are like voices in the wind.
Skittish and wild, and then gentle and free
Whispering, won't someone walk with me?
Won't someone be more than an apparition?
Won't someone open a widow in my soul?
And let in the sunlight.
And if not the sunlight, the moonlight
At the core of all your crying, you are blind.
Reading a dialect from another time
At the kernel of it all
It's about you and me.
In the morning
And then again in the evening.
It's time to say goodnight.
