In Every Direction, The Light You Are Poem by Mohammad Younus

In Every Direction, The Light You Are

In every direction, the light you are,
I would bow in prostration to You,
in every direction, seeking the truth:
'Wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah.'

In the center of the prayer niche,
I stand still, unwavering—
'The sight did not swerve, nor did it transgress.'

With longing, I behold the Light,
with longing, I hear the Call.
The air trembles with the echo of Your Name,
the silence hums with the whisper of Truth.

Your eternal Word I listen to with zeal,
with my eyes, with my ears, with love.
Every inspiration, a doorway to truth.
Every revelation, a river leading me home.

The dawn bears witness to my yearning,
the night folds me in its solemn hush.
I seek You in the rustling of leaves,
in the murmur of flowing streams,
in the breath of life that knows no rest.

O Eternal One, let me be nothing but a mirror
that reflects the brilliance of Your Light.
Let me be a vessel that contains only You,
a reed that sounds Your melody,
a heart that beats to the rhythm of Your Hu.

For in every feeling, in every thought,
I am drawn to the One who was never absent,
the One who, before I realized,
I was already in His home.
