In God's Name Poem by Francis Duggan

In God's Name

Rating: 5.0

When they say God's on their side to themselves they do lie
And in God's name they kill and in God's name they die
And as they march their National flags they do wave
As they try to define what is truthful and brave.

To the place of no return their heroes have gone
But for God and for Country their theme song lives on
Yet between terrorism and war there's a very fine line
One might say they seem too alike to define.

In God's name we often have heard that before
And always one more war to settle some score
For God and for Country so many have died
And their sacrifice written in National pride.

They seem a bit old now the words in God's name
And to die for your Country assures you of fame
Our flag is our symbol of National pride
And we cannot lose we have God on our side.
