In His Name Poem by Raymond Farrell

In His Name

God the Son, the Christ, Jesus
Came not as a conquering Potentate
Owned nothing
But the clothes on His back
And sandals on His feet
Had nowhere to lay His head
Coveted not the land or possessions of others
And told His followers to love their enemies
But more than 2000 years
After He delivered His message
Some who call themselves Christians
Have thrown their lot
In with the Zionist cause
Even though not tenets of Zionism
Own the Lordship of Christ
These Christians claim to serve
They say Jesus is Lord
But in spite of their proclamations
Their actions deny Christ is Lord
They have replaced His teachings
With those of the conquering
European settler colonialists
Who in God's name
Seem bent on eradicating
The entire native population of Gaza
As I write in December 2024
Thousands of self-proclaimed
Born Again Christians
Are supporting and cheering on
The genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
Taking to the airways
To open justify the wanton murder
Of innocent children
All in the name of Christ
The same One who said
Love your enemies
Has in their perverted minds
Become One who condones
The murder of the innocent
In His Name.
