It’s like a fog
A depressing cloud
Suffocating.
Blinding.

But then a flash of something-
Blissfully familiar
Uplifting.
Emancipating.

The dull grey of the clouds
Turn to crisp silver
The muted browns of the earth surrounding you
Become beautiful shades of orange.

You’re life is no longer a monotonous thud
You feel as light as the lid of a coffee cup
You’re blown into the air
You’re safe my dove
Please have no fear
