In Life's Last Lurch Poem by Mark Heathcote

In Life's Last Lurch

On this piercing night
Striations of light
Through squinting eyes
Shone liquid bright...

In a drunken abyss
With a heart transfix...
A hunched-up figure
Modus Vivendi...
Still -thinks he's quite trendy
Whilst taking a piss...

Wooden movements shake
Forces in a weakened alliance
Unwillingly, break!
Fallen is he in defiance.

A tragedy a trivial devil
A trembling snow angel
He has fallen, besmirch-
Blood collating, dishevel
-led in life's last lurch.
