In Memory Of Warren Zevon* Poem by Alexander Raju

In Memory Of Warren Zevon*

Warren Zevon, the rock singer,
Was diagnosed of incurable cancer,
Sang lastly, ‘Keep me in your heart! '
And tried to explore grief through art.

While dealing with death impending,
He dealt with his emotions singing,
Unlike others who pray useless,
Cry, hate, and curse God or themselves.

Till death, he sang away his days
And made life complete in itself,
Noticing his death fast approach,
Said he, "Enjoy every sandwich! "

We waste away our life thinking
Much on life after death, in vain,
Do make our life on earth complete
And leave this world with no regrets.

We fail to have half his willpower
And equanimity, when face
Death before our eyes, learn from him,
And keep him always in our hearts.
