In Mind - Poem by Barry Van Allen

I would like to talk with you again,
it has been a long, long, time,
though not that long, and not that far,
in the distance of my mind.

I would like to hold your hand again,
and watch that river slowly wind,
between the hills,
as sunshine fills,
the void we left behind.

I wish that we could climb that tree,
and this time see the signs,
that we missed between our kisses,
and the wine, the other time.

I would like to feel your heartbeat,
right along with mine,
I would like to try your love again,
and get lost inside your eyes,
I am still reaching for that something,
that we almost realized,
that was not quite there,
... and that we both know,
... we should have shared forever.

For quite some time to come,
and quite some time behind,
there has never been a single day,
that you weren't on my mind.
