In That Car Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

In That Car

In that car

So noiseless?
-kept thinking on way to doctors' den!

One more call with number
-Unknown" repeated ignorance
-which to me is worst call
-can be most important,
-as can be sellers' call
-and recent friend
-named Nahid…
-hesitant…I answered

Voice was harsh and unknown
-named me in funny way
-questioning: "Is correct? "
-"Depends who! " I answered
-unkind and very firm
-next to me in my car
-sat friend, Shahryar

Went to him to collect
-Milton's book and my notes
-as well as literature's history
- (of the old Canada)
-thought he took; had borrowed

Caller said: "…of police…"
-aborted everything
-to return to my home
-they took me, escorted
-emptied my pockets
-even my glasses, and the pen
-then I got in their car

Sat in back behind fence
-saw a note on back of front seat
-"This car has recorder"
-looked ahead saw myself
-on dashboard's screen
-sat silent and noiseless
-exactly as was car
