In The Depths Of Our Souls, A War Rages On Poem by Mohammad Younus

In The Depths Of Our Souls, A War Rages On

In the depths of our souls, a war rages on,
Where light and darkness fiercely contend.
The true Satan, our own nefarious selves,
In righteousness cloaked,
And whispers temptation's song.

With insidious charm, it leads astray,
Stealing innocence without a hint of shame.
Blame we cast on Iblis, yet within us lies,
The merciless nafs, devoid of mercy's flame.

Rebellion against the divine, a bitter taste,
Lingers in the air, a constant reminder of our fall.
No soap nor time can cleanse the stains of sin,
Nor cure the wounds inflicted by our own downfall,
To the lowest of low state.

But amidst the dark shadows, a glimmer of hope,
A cloud in the heavens, promising redemption's flight.
To return to the lost paradise, free of fire's torment,
Where prayer is no longer a burden, but a delight.
