In the early cool
on my knees
and bent over
trimming the edges
of the backyard lawn—
the smallest snail(!)
on the still-moist grass
its subtle undulations
moving it up
an unbending green stalk.
The keenest observer, you are! And so appreciative of nature, even it’s tiniest forms and subtleties. Lovely poem, Glen.
Thank you, Laurie. And seeing creation like this, as you know, is inspiring and healing. Been meaning to email you— with the rains and cooler spring the flowers here have been amazing. I wonder if I’ll ever see a year like it again. However, as I write this, I’m instantly reminded to appreciate in the day what’s given in the day. Many blessings your way! -Glen

With the arrival of rain, snails have started showing their appearance! Somehow these tiny creatures are so annoying and repulsive to me! They eat away all my orchid flowers. However you look upon them with the tenderness of a Nature lover!
hey, valsa! good to see your comment. snails can be annoying to me as well. and the french like eating them—yuk! but there's something about the young of most creatures that is endearing. thank you for reading and commenting, and beauty be constant in your life. -glen
