I've been praying for friends and family passed
for their warm reception to God's eternal bosom
thinking of them as shadows of what they were.
But if their spirits are set free from fleshly cages
wouldn't they be more alive and vital—
like little children nurtured well and unafraid?
Naturally enough I remember them in their decline—
transfer those images to their departed selves.
But this is not what I myself expect—aspire to—
not Lazarus raised but tied to time once more
but unbound and more alive than ever before.

Thank you, Unnikrishnan, for writing this message to me. As it happens today is Good Friday in the Christian tradition, and I'm thinking of my/our mortality. -Glen
favorited and five starred---this is so incredibly well said and a blessed reminder that we shall be in peak form in heaven! ! ! thank you for reminding us of this truth
You're welcome, Susan, and hi! It's good to see this comment coming from you, though I myself haven't been active in PH prompted, significantly, because of its format changes and frustrations encountered in it. Hoping you're well in all ways and thriving, Glen
Five stars, Glen. When we are resurrected, it will be as we were in the prime of life, is my belief.
Hey, Kim! Yes, Paul in his letters suggests something like what you say. I'm influenced too by C.S. Lewis' picture of heaven in The Great Divorce. Thanks for your comment. -Glen
