In The Midst Of The Turbulent World Poem by Mohammad Younus

In The Midst Of The Turbulent World

In the midst of the turbulent world,
I have a calm and peaceful heart.
It was not always like this—no, not from the start.
It takes open eyes and ears of our true self
To hear the voice of our Lord within.
It requires divine intelligence to fully embrace His call.

I was diving in the midst of a raging sea,
Going beneath the dark layers to satisfy a buried beast.
I was a rebel against God, defying His command,
Doing the things I knew in my heart
He would never condone.
Yet, I never realized the fault was my own.

I blamed everyone but myself for the misery I was in,
Not giving a thought to the divine command
Not to approach the forbidden tree.
Little did I know that God was always there,
Watching over me and waiting for my return,
Until my heart was open and bare,
Ready to surrender and trust only in Him.

So what did I do but follow God's will,
Though my vision was dim?
I could not clearly see the cosmic plan
He had set for me on the Day of Alast.
But when God graced me,
I leapt, for He made me see.

The plan is perfectly laid out and calculated,
The details ever kept hidden.
Now, the veil is lifted, and I no longer fear
Falling prey to illusions of divine reality.

The contentment in my soul has come
By the grace and love of my Lord,
Severing the vile schemes of Satan's invisible cord.

The calm in my heart will never fade,
For it is God who saved me from my own demise,
Resurrecting me to life when I was dead.
