In The Night Poem by Allyson Gordon

In The Night

Rating: 5.0

Standing on the edge of a cliff
Arms outstretched, breathing deeply
Dark fog surrounding me
The cold wind blowing through my hair

The night air, bitterly cold
It wraps itself around me
Slowly crawling into my bones
Where it entraps itself for all eternity

The smell of rain fills the air
Lightly, raindrops fall to the ground
The sky covered with a blanket of cloud
The moon no longer illuminating the earth

The distant hooting of owls
And long howls of wolves
Breaks the silence of the night
The world suddenly seeming more alive

As the wind grows stronger
It rustles the leaves in the trees
Nothing here can hurt me
For this is my sanctuary
