In The Sour-Sweet Years Of Longing Poem by Mohammad Younus

In The Sour-Sweet Years Of Longing

In the sour-sweet years of longing,
and the awe of untold wonders,
how can one glimpse the true face
when gazing into the murky depths
of life's ever-flowing stream?

The distance from the true self
seems vast, like an endless expanse,
simple as heaven's justice,
yet it terrifies with its vastness.
Ah, illusion, my rapture!
Oh, golden false self,
you approach with your shimmering lure!

Cleanse the waters, polish the mirror,
and you will see:
your divine image reflected,
ripples dancing across
the clear surface of your life's stream.
Breezes from heaven stir,
whispering through branches and leaves,
causing the mellow music of life to flow.

I gaze upon the quiet sky,
its diamonds and moon reflected
in the pure waters of my stream.
In this mystic world, I exclaim,
Here is the divine! Here is the divine!
