In The Valley Of Sparta Poem by Debora Soramaki

In The Valley Of Sparta

In the Valley of Sparta
Where the Poplar stands proud
And the Black Capped Chickadee
Makes it their home
Where the maple endures
And the birch leaves flutter
The Pileated Woodpecker
Works all alone
Sumac brings color amid the tall grass
Asparagus brings visitors
Who live in the past
Many deer have their shelter
When the season grows new
Partridge drum in the distance
As the night comes alive
In the morning dew
No one's a stranger in the Valley below
If one deems one is missing
The whole Valley will know.
(In loving memory of my Pa, Erick Thorin
who passed away on April 4,2009)
