In The Woods I Vanish Poem by Leah Ayliffe

In The Woods I Vanish

Rating: 0.5

I just want to get lost, lost in the woods.
Become part of it, part of its scenery.
The tree stumps, the grass, the crumpled dead leaves covering the ground;
I want to be it, all of it.
Not just stand in its presence, breathing in the crisp air hoping to disappear at any moment.
Not just feel the wind rush past my face, through my hair, dreaming of my spirit soaring with it.
The sun creeps through the clouds every so often
Creating warmth on my skin that makes me smile
And I think of home.
And then I think how I'd rather stay lost,
I'd rather disappear.
