In This Writing Of Rhyme Poem by Francis Duggan

In This Writing Of Rhyme

In this writing of rhyme there is neither money nor fame
Try other forms of literature if as a writer you wish to become a great name
Try writing novels or plays or poetry instead
Of penning rhyme which as a literary form is dead
At least by the literary critics this is what we are told
That rhymers never grow wealthy or famous they only grow old
The twenty first century critics dismiss rhymers as out of date
And rhymers as writers they refuse to rate
I as one who has written reams and reams of rhyme
Has not grown wealthy or famous over decades of time
And i ouight to know what i am on about
Since i have never been one of the literary in for to be counted out
Suppose rhymers did have their good days in the past
But then few things in life ever does seem to last.
