Inanimate Objects Poem by Randy McClave

Inanimate Objects

Guns are inanimate objects
Which causes dire and horrendous effects,
And only people can ever pull their trigger
Mostly with sheer excitement and vigor.
They murder the young and also the innocent
By the racist, the terrorist and the ignorant,
And because of the NRA the gun laws are all flawed
They are not outlawed.

Drugs are inanimate objects as well
Used by shooting, ingesting, smoking or by smell,
And they too take many, many lives
And they effect those forever whoever survives.
They tear families and neighborhoods all apart
They even destroy the very heart,
To many they make millionaires or make the druggies feel regal
But, they are regulated strictly or they are illegal.

Guns and drugs are both inanimate objects so, tell me this
Maybe it's some information that I did miss,
Guns and drugs are both inanimate objects which is true
Both causes the deaths of many before the day is through.
But, guns are mainly used against children and strangers to murder and kill
Whereas drugs are used for personal relief and a thrill,
So, this is the truth that I have sought,
Why are drugs regulated or outlawed, and guns are not.
