Incomplete Biryani Poem by Drishika Shah

Incomplete Biryani

Once upon a time, there lived a Tasteless Biryani,
That had neither chicken, nor mutton, nor rice.
No one liked it as it was very bland and tawny
It had neither any taste nor any smell of spice.

The cook had forgotten it or she wasn't a cook at all,
For no sane person ever would make it taste so terrible.
Or someone had cursed it to be hated by one and all,
That among the worst dishes ever, it was incomparable.

Poor Biryani, it went through a lot of woes and insults,
It yearned to be complete and yummy but didn't know-how.
It googled to see if it could find someone to consult,
It wanted to change its tragic fate forever here and now.

Google said Lord Ganesha could make incomplete complete,
And listed recipes for our listless Biryani to explore and utilize.
It wanted to be as tasty as its friends and taste like a treat,
So it set about exploring various recipes, its dream to actualize.

It was heard murmuring, ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya, O dear Lord,
For heaven's sake or my own sake, please make me whole.
Otherwise, I will take this chopping knife and use it as a sword,
To chop my head, and then be buried in some drainage hole'.

'Just bringing, wait a moment' our Biryani heard this sound,
It thought it was Lord Ganesha replying, so it felt so proud.
Hoping it would get to meet Lord Ganesha, it felt profound,
'I would soon be complete, ' the tasteless Biryani wowed!

Suddenly our Biryani saw the cook, it was like an earthquake;
Before it could react, the cook dumped it into a plastic sheet.
It said, ' I don't want to be given to a beggar, for heaven's sake! '
It was too late. The beggar took it and went out into the street.

At home, he took it out happily, and to his young kid offered a bite.
The child found it yummy and nice, being so hungry and starving.
The family thanked God for the delightful meal they got that night.
Our Biryani now felt complete, being relished by those deserving.
