Indian Sholah Shringaras, Sixteen Adornments Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Indian Sholah Shringaras, Sixteen Adornments

Sixteen shringaras
The Indians talk of
While talking about
The make-up, dress-up
That is
The bindi, sindoor,
The maang-tika, the locket hanging on the forehead from the parting line of hair,
Kajal, collyrium, nath, nose-ring,
Karn phool, ear ornaments, haar, necklace,
Mehendi, myrtle embroidery, bajubandh, armband,
Bangles, arhsi, a thumb ring studded with a mirror,
Kamarbandh, waist tightening accessories, payal, anklets,
Bicchua, toe-ring, fragrance and perfumes,
Hair accessories to tighten the jasmines into the hair bun.
Say, how the bride has been adorned?

Ready to pictures and photographs,
She herself looking like,
A flower princess, a dream girl,
A celestial damsel on earth.
