Infatuated With Failures Made Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Infatuated With Failures Made

Infatuated,
With continuous failures made.
Convincingly menacing,
Any progress being chipped away.
For what some perceive,
Results in maintaining...
A greatness to state it.
Repeatedly in defiance of reality.

Infatuated,
With attention to get.
Although hollow with substance.
In the entertaining of it.
Applauded to ignore,
The seriousness...
Of a promised downfall.
Can not provide a benefit.
For those instructed,
On their knees they must crawl.

And yet kept supported,
By those witnessing...
Flashing neon signs that warn.
That a following one,
To the bottom of a pit.
Only returns a darkness.
Leaving behind an enlightenment
Chosen to bypass.
For promises made,
From one who duped, fools and tricks.

Maybe for some a choice to have done.
Just to have escalated,
A quality of life...
Seen to diminish into pieces.
Before their eyes to endorse.

But unconscious actions to implement,
Are difficult to overcome.
When cemented are the exits to permit.
And of course remorse,
Has its way to relive.
By those who seem to be divorced,
From thoughts or common sense to use.
Since this to do is obviously offensive.
And proven to be,
A detriment to whatever remains...
Of a greatness to claim it.
With sanity maintained.
Although gone is proof and its evidence.
