Inferno Poem by Khaleeq Ahmad

Inferno

*INFERNO*

And you suddenly realise
No Muslim
No Hindu
No Christian
None other...

No Chinese
No Italian
No Persian
No British
None other...

Only humans existed
In these ghost towns,
In these deserted streets,
In these concrete buildings, shopping malls, courts and bazars...

Now, these're deprived of those
Who proudly owned them,
Walked here with their heads held high in vanity,
These aeroplanes... they are grounded,
Which once fearlessly crossed the seven seas & seven skies.
Why don't they fly any more? Why don't they roar, those ships & engines?

The pigeons, sparrows, eagles, crows
Whom we despised like little prigs,
Why are they undaunted but stunned to see us?
Why the humanity is shivering?
Why those in powers are powerless?
Why the supreme creation is locked?
Why the mighty conquerers are silent?
Where are those atom bombs, those human bombs those fierce guns, those rockets & mortars?

Why those lanky chimneys incessantly throwing thick black smoke are still?
Why those heavy noisy machines endlessly thriving in thundering songs have become dumb?

Why are they repenting now?
Why we could not invest in medicine but in mass devastation?
Where are the fuel prices? Those stock markets, those bitcoins?

Aye, for, Nature is in fury,
God's wrath has erupted,
Inferno is left loose.
We're guilty of heinous, utterly odious crimes.

Pray and be united
Thank, those are helping
Thank, those are benevolent,
Thank, those are not hoarders,
Thank, those are selfless.
