Insomnia Poem by Dans Only

Insomnia

Rating: 4.5

One thousand sheep
And still I can't sleep
A peaceful slumber eludes me

Perhaps it's a dream
That I yearn for and seek
That keeps me awake and wondering

A dream of the past
Of love that won't last
And bear the burden of time

But the truth nightly told
In ways, oh so cold
Torment my subconscious mind

To dream? I hope so
But pray I not know
The content when I awake

For the pain I will bear
To know, she not care
Shall renew my old heartache

it is awful when you can't sleep, and the sheep are not helping. Nicely penned......
