Unless seamen are taught to tie knots
the way left-handed landsmen do,
a left-handed landsman it probably was
who compiled
my illustrated 'Tying Knots: The How To'.

The former, I reckon's the go:
seamen consider it unseamanly
to tie knots
the way right-handed landsmen do.

(Forgive me, Mr. Day, I changed your title;
for a rhyme for 'do', the change was vital.)

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
actual title 'Knots and Splices' by Cyrus L. Day, Granada Publishing 1953.
I don't even tie a slipped half-hitch the way Day does.
