Instead Of Us

We are growing too large
and are wanting to replace ourselves
with something small;
not so small
as we were
at the start
with no idea
why we
came about
(though that might be best)
but,
having some idea,
wanting not to waste it,
wanting some idea of us
in what's instead of us.
