Into Pits Of Addicting Greed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Into Pits Of Addicting Greed

After decades of digging deeper,
Into a pit of greed and darkness.
When will it begin to dawn,
On those who have turned their backs...
Upon a consciousness that invites,
Enlightenment, common sense and truth.
With this to do to realize,
The unending abundance and wealth this gives...
To all pursuing a happiness that is unlimited.

"Nice.
Such uplifting and heartfelt statements.
Now...
Who handed who the shovel,
To then say...

'Don't worry about debt.
We can credit our debts to prosperity.
Regardless how foolish,
That addiction will be to overcome.
And darkness to face,
Will just be a temporary experience.'

I...
Remember those comments coming from you."

Well...
Okay.
Okay, okay.
So...
I admit my stupidity.
What is your excuse?

"I'm not the one complaining.
I had 'had' enough of that enlightenment stuff.
And borrowing from you and everyone else,
To remain philosophical and hungry.
Now...
If it's your decision to return back to those times,
That's up to you.
I'm loving my ignorance.
And believe it or not...
If and when you should leave,
Guess who will not be alone?
And I thank you,
For introducing me to your stupidity."

Wow.
I don't know what to say.
I'm lost for words.

"That's good enough for me.
I accept your apology."
