Iraq War Syllogism - 36 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Iraq War Syllogism - 36

36

Order 81
A slave to fine print
The plight of the Iraqi farmer - Why do I have to grow the crops they tell me to?
Why do I have to plant only the seeds the invaders tell me to?

Order 81
Forcing the selling of ice to Eskimos, the selling of tea to the Chinese
They baked bread thousands of years before your civilization even thought of it
Why is the agriculture you bring based on colonial principles?

The fertile crescent under lock and chain
Our genetically modified crops will force yours out
We are an invasive species
Our wheat will crush your wheat

There must be financial incentives for big campaign donors
For those who backed a president who was a neo-conservative puppet
They want return on their investment

So Monsanto demands a new mercantilism
From the barrel of a gun, they push their genetic creation
And demands those who are in the way of windblown seeds to step aside

Order 81
We'll grow things we'll never eat
For overstuffed overlords in far off oligarchies of obesity
