The Lookalikes Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Lookalikes

Make a wall of that which you do not know
Bookend this with Mother Nature anti-logic
I have been seen with a girl who looks likes like me
Talks like me, walks like me, has many of the same mannerisms
Provides me with a daily riddle I have no answer for

Permanently sustainable model for promotion
Underwritten by lazy long breakfasts autumn and spring weather
Cool crisp glossy discussions over articles of no account time wasting
Making a miniature version of me is a doable project

The doppelgangers hold sway for the day
Romance the clone of thoughts and deeds
Pick apart these relationships and find no difference
No sex organs, no means of reproduction
Their time of life is limited to one brief act

Pre-pubescent speech gradually rises from informal childish patter to voices raised in concern
They can't tell the two of us apart
I look over my shoulder with the greatest fear
What I find is myself at odds with myself
The look I've worn since childhood can never be erased
