Iraq War Syllogism - 50

50

Who will answer for this tragic waste?
This meaningless exercise which will have consequences

The future wars were started then
New soldiers created by bombs in their neighborhood
And the deaths of loved ones killed indiscriminately

Who will answer for this tragic waste?
The citizens of a democracy who gave a second term to the architects of pre-emptive war
The citizens of democracy who didn't rise up at the first allegations of human rights violations

In the years ahead, they will curse the name of Dick Cheney
His relatives will be forced to change their names
The Bush Family will hide in all-white enclaves and breed among itself

Who will answer for this?
The graveyards with headstones marked deceit

The empire as future invalid
Unable to carry its own weight
Unable to ask itself serious questions about its own history

Who will answer for this?
That's a question that shouldn't hang open ended
