Til Death Do Us Part Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Til Death Do Us Part

Observing the death throes of the swan cliché
Under the heavy culture of monogamy
Pick up a stone and put a stone in your pocket
To hurl later at designated frustration goats

The pairing up of the Disney certified youth
"It's easier to get through life as two"
The clinging together of credit checked joyless wimps
What reinforcement mechanism has beaten this duty so deep into your subconscious?

Why bring up the portfolio of trust?
A stunning paralysis misinterpreted as an admission of guilt
To end something so painfully, so jarring like an abrupt halt to all motion
Leaving behind an impression in which to base a bitter future on
