Irises Which Bring In The Summer Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

Irises Which Bring In The Summer

Irises which bring in the summer
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I planted widow's tears
And Dutch irises in the garden
While I hope for the widow's tears
To remind me of the tragedy of losing my father
In the 6th grade with its flowers
I wish for the Dutch irises
To bless me with its blooms;

We have had blue irises ever since
We moved into this house
When my son was almost a year old
And these have faithfully blossomed
Into flowers that have,
With their unscented beauty,
Been a signature variety;

I have even painted two blue irises
On one of my handbags, the Matt and Nat design
And the other handbag I use, is also very pretty
With a designer made lattice
And I must say that when reasonable
The price is always right for handbags
For they make the purse inside have less of a remorse
For Ladies, your man is the clan
As your son is the man on the run also
And my instinct says, I can earn again.
