Is It Going To Be The Summer Of Contentment Or The Summer Of Longing

Is it going to be the summer of contentment or the summer of longing
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I said in a poem on Vancouver Olympics 2010
That Stephen Harper's PMship was to quote from Charles Dickens,
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"
And in the same way, I said about PM Justin Trudeau's official record,
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day, as Shakespeare has said,
For his time in office has had the glory of summer sunshine;

But it takes all kinds of people to make the world
If in a passionate way, we feel that it is going to be the summer of contentment
Or the summer of longing, the same sentiments are going to be reflected in Canadians
For the Election Day in 2019;

Charles Dickens believed in oxymorons to emphasize his point
Thus he said of England and France in his book, A Tale of Two Cities,
It was the winter of despair, it was the spring of hope,
But I say, using a metonymy, it is the winter of drive which is going to be the spring of growth
And if it was the autumn of glory, it is also the autumn of colour;

The bleak, wintry landscape and I have to put a positive spin on winters in Canada
Brings forth the recognition that home is where the heart is and to me, my heartland is Toronto,
And one does well to write of one's contentment or of longing and I, dear reader, shall give you an opening
And if you beg to differ, you can either express it in writing or after giving the other sides a fair chance,
Use your supreme power as a voter in the democracy of Canada;

We are a long way away from Election night but the thought struck me
That the beginnings of the word, democracy owes its roots to ancient Greek,
And the concept owes its roots to ancient Rome
For during the dictatorship of Julius Ceasar, was a senate of senators allowed to express their opinions and thoughts;

If in a figurative way, there are Cassiuses and Brutuses in the Canadian Parliament
It is the way of a democracy for leaders could get complacent in their powerful positions
But I quote from Virgil's The Georgics, Who dare say the Sun is false?
And hence, a summer's day personified by Justin Trudeau's government
Is true to its principles and policies
But the sun can be covered by clouds but its brilliance shines on, a little diminished
And thus clouded judgement can impede the current government's functioning;

Let it be noted that Justin Trudeau, like the dictator emperor, worships
At the Temple of Venus Genetrix, the mother's version of Venus, the Goddess of Love, Sophie Gregoire,
And Venus Geriatrix, the older version of Venus, the Goddess of Love, his mother, Margaret Trudeau,
He wears the wreath which is a symbol of Jupiter and in present day Canada, it can represent the victorious leader,
Jupiter is the supreme god of the Roman pantheon, called dies pater, "shining father"
And he is a god of light and sky, and protector of the state and its laws
And thus being the god of light and sky, he blesseth him, Justin Trudeau,
Whose time in office is compared to a summer's day.
