Irish Poets And Songsters Poem by michael Smajda

Irish Poets And Songsters

There are many stories about Ireland
Told by Ireland's poets, songsters, as well,
Of fairies, leprechauns, and castle ghosts,
Mysteriously, inhabiting its hills and vale.

They do enlighten us with even more tales
Of foreign rule, famine, wars and migration,
Fair maidens, whiskey, pubs, jolly time wakes,
But, above all, love of their unique nation.

Though Ireland is a small isle on the map,
Its people are gifted with hearts of gold.
Blessed with so many shades of God's best green
And poets, songsters with more stories to tell.
