How can we keep watching
scattered bodies, scattered debris
fallen buildings, helpless families
hungry children hit by shrapnel,
rescuers running to hospitals
with wounded children,
doctors rushing to treat them;
yet no one lacks courage
though blood stains and broken bones
fractured hands or fractured legs
keep causing unbearable pains;
doctors keep rushing
to help and treat the injured,
youth and children look so fatigued:
so many days of war and hostilities,
so many dead, so many missing,
still those alive keep breathing
with panic and silent prayers
hoping the war will end
but explosions keep recurring
everyday, every night, every where.
People keep dying like night-flies
as apartments keep collapsing on them
as if they lived in paper houses
but reality is so grime and brutal
as no one knows who is next to die
as no one knows who will be injured next;
and no one believes in mercy and empathy
as bombs keep exploding suddenly
in their neighborhoods and on their streets
bringing down cluster of buildings
in such a way that it resembles
a site of a devastating earthquake.
And as the war continues its vanity,
so much of pain and anxiousness
so much of grief and sadness swivels
as people keep dying and falling
to the ground like autumn leaves;
how can our eyes keep watching
so many deaths everyday
and so many children facing the wrath
when they are so full of innocence?
How can any mind keep forgetting
that the human race keeps struggling
to survive out there in those countries
where war demonstrate extreme vengeance?
But can war ever achieve its final purpose?
Can war curtail enmity forever?
Can deaths and destruction yield benefits?
Or will the seeds of hatred grow into wilderness
where no one will ever want to forgive the other?
And how long will the rescuers keep searching
for bodies or how long can they keep running
with injured children and people to hospitals?
How can they risk their own lives
to search for bodies
under the fallen buildings
when bombs keep falling like fireworks?
And, how long will those children
and families face hunger and thirst?
how long will they wait sitting on
those hospital floors hoping
their time will come and they will be treated
for their injuries and wounds?
And who will ever succeed in healing
their wounds of grief caused by those bombs
that kept exploding ceaselessly
thus killing their loved ones instantly?
How will war not create more
and even more tragedies?
How will war not create disunity
and separate more and more families?
Will the world intervene to stop the hostilities
or will the game of enmity be allowed to go on
and increase it's score
while people keep struggling
to survive and to breathe
in those war-torn countries?
So, show mercy and compassion, O' Israel!
