Issues Of The Unknown Poem by Tabitha Christie

Issues Of The Unknown

She was only 20 at the time.
Not knowing what to do, having shivers go up her spine.
They were going into a depression, her family couldn't support her, so she had to leave them.
Standing on the corner under the streetlight so dark,
selling her body for the cash she so needed, this was her dreadful start.
Black eyes and bruises, cuts and weaknesses,
being taken and in fear of her life.
She felt like she was being torn apart.
The taste of duct tape on her mouth and a massive headache.
She knew if she was smart, she would get out of there someday.
While he was gone, she snuck through a broken window with nothing but hands to pray.
With piercing pains shooting through her tummy,
She knew she was pregnant but she had no money.
She says,
"I cant have a child for I cannot support it, should I have an abortion and kill an innocent life so new like Hitler killing off innocent lives of the Jews?
No that is not a choice I shall pursue. This child is going to be somebody great someday. I might not be there, but visits I will pay.
This child will have great parents that love him.
A life worth living.
And a heart that keeps beating"
