It Be Spring Yet There Be No Gladness Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

It Be Spring Yet There Be No Gladness

Today the bleak heavens are a reign of Sadness.

O mother I feel sad! Without you I
Breathe, but breathe just sadness.

I now know what it be to pine.
Not just in verse and song and line.
