It Never Worked Out

I wanted to come and see you,
it never worked out that way.
I thought it would change, but
it didn't, I'm sorry to say. Time
went on, in fact it flew, then
before you turned around, my
visit was long overdue. It's hard
to say why some things happen,
there are no answers at all. If I
truly had my way, I would have
come to call. I'm sure you knew
if I could, I most certainly would
have been there. But no ones,
sorrier than I, the way things
turned out, for as we know, all
in life, isn't always fair!
