It's Raining In Maleny Poem by Francis Duggan

It's Raining In Maleny

Every shower of rain is welcome it's been two months so they say
Since it last rained in Maleny and it's raining there today
And the farmer he feels happy though his paddocks looking bare
And he thanks the God rainmaker that some rain he now can spare.

In the Queensland Town of Maleny happy people walk the street
They seem happy it is raining and a respite from the heat
Though the drought may not be broken it's a welcome fall of rain
And the forecast for tomorrow is sunny and warm again.

For South Queensland coastal country it has been a thirsty Spring
And on flowering jacaranda the male black backed magpie sing
And the magpie pipes his sweetest when the rain is pouring down
And it's raining in Maleny on Maleny's mountain Town.

After long weeks of warm weather rain can be a source of joy
And it's raining in Maleny after two months warm and dry
And the bare and thirsty paddocks every welcome raindropp soak
And the farmer he feels happy though the drought may not be broke.
