It's Raining Out Today Poem by George Hunter

It's Raining Out Today

It's raining out today
That kinda fits my mood.
I'm just looking out the window
Bemoaning my solitude.

Got the stereo on, turned up the gain
Played Willie's, 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.'
Put on another, almost made me cry
Old Hank singing
'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry.'

Those sad songs make me feel
Much better, if I try
And realize that out there
Someone has it worse than I.

Got to get moving
I know this mood will pass.
If I sit here any longer
I'll get a callus on my ass.

I tell myself
Just get off the dime
But really, what's the use
It's all just killing time.

But actually, it's time
That's killing me
Getting old ain't no fun
With that we'll all agree.

Maybe tomorrow
The sun will shine once more
And I will feel much better
When looking out the door.

And see the green grass pushing up
And the fruit trees all in bloom.
Maybe Nature's blessings
Will keep me from my gloom.

Hi George..... Just happened to see your name on line and thought I would read some of your very good work. I really like this one... And I am a fan of Willie and Hank.......among some others.....Maybe a Lefty Frizzell or A Kitty Wells even now and then... Or Eddie Arnold or some of the Carters from long ago.... Country has some history and kept away a lot of otherwise rainy days now and then... Nice to meet you....... Enjoy a great Sunday.... Say Howdy sometime....Jim
