It's Such A Lovely Lazy Day Poem by Paul Amrod

It's Such A Lovely Lazy Day

It’s such a lovely lazy day
I’m slipping on my socks
I won’t look at the clock
‘Cause it’s such a fine and charming day
The birdies chirp their song
And I will sing along
It’s such a fair and pretty day
All the children are at play
Why can’t mankind take their time?
Always at the same old grind but I say -
It’s such a lovely lazy day
The haze sits on the trees
I won’t look for my keys
It’s such a balmy, breezy day
The milkman didn’t come
So I’ll have a bottle of rum.
As we relax with Mother Nature
we watch a pond with wonder.
The jumping fish and croaking frogs
have inspired all wandering creatures.
However lurking inside and thereunder
are the masters and oppressors.
Boiling factories keep pumping strong
Therefore our atmosphere is going wrong
The politicians trouble
Making soot and useless rubble
I would like to burst their bubble madly but sadly
They control freedom with apathy
In the name of Christ with blasphemy
We detached ourselves from selfishness
Wishing you pleasures and a sweet caress
It’s such a lovely lazy day
The rosebush starts to bud
I feel like Elmer Fudd
It’s such a lucky carefree day
The postman left no mail
I won’t go off to jail.
It’s such a gorgeous and luscious day
All the children are at play
Why can’t mankind take their time?
Let’s kick off our shoes and feel divine.
