It Was A Time - Poem by Cecil (C.J.) Krieger
It was a time
Of frozen mornings
And barren trees
While I watched
The sky darken
As bit by bit
Pieces of the sun
Cracked
And fell away
It was a time
Of miracles
And changes
A time
When the earth
Once filled with green
Turned snowy white
Much like
The color of my hair
It was a time
When I was alone
In the night
And my thoughts
Filled empty rooms
With voices of those
I had loved
Dancing to
Lost music
It was a time
That I heard
From a distance
My voice repeating
Over and over
And over again
It was a time
It was a time
It was a time
