It Was Christmas Day Poem by Randy McClave

It Was Christmas Day

I dreamed that it was Christmas Day
And no one person did worship or pray,
And as far as I could see
There was no Christmas wreath or a Christmas tree.
There was no stories about the three wisemen
Who came with gifts to the inn,
When they saw and then followed the bright star
That had led them all from a far.
There was no stories about when the angels did sing
When with good tidings they did bring,
How the world's savior was born
In the early morn.
No one was ever born to pray the price
No one knew about Jesus Christ,
And no one knew of his love and his salvation
Anywhere across this nation.
Then I awoke from my dream
I did pray and I did scream,
It was really more of a nightmare
As I quickly said another prayer.
It was a week before Christmas
I looked around and everyone was opened for business,
Christmas trees were all for sale
Christmas cards and gifts were sent in the mail.
All stores were still opened late
The ice rink was opened for all to skate,
Everyone was either shopping or sightseeing
Some were even drinking and sleighing or skiing.
Children were wishing and wanting more
While parents were hanging wreaths on their door,
The children and their parents did holler
Everyone was making another dollar.
Then came the annual marching of the Christmas parade
And Santa Clause was leading all in the crusade,
Following him was the food trucks and candy from a bus
Still many didn't know or believed in Christ Jesus.
